Buckfast Abbey is a Benedictine monastery. It is approximately 20 miles from Plymouth on the A38. There have be some changes since the last visit. There is a new statue of Mary & baby Jesus on the lawn just inside the entrance. The Monastic Produce shop that used to be located in the Higher Mill with the water wheel is now within the main complex. There is a new garden with a wonderful stag sculpture as its centrepiece.
