Two of the most advanced warships in the world visited Plymouth and double berthed in Devonport Naval Base for the first time.
Fort the first time the Type 45 destroyers HMS Diamond and HMS Daring, the Royal Navy’s latest and most capable warships, were tied up alongside each other.
The ships and crews are undergoing and preparing for operational sea training under the Flag Officer Sea Training organisation.
Although it is the first time they have been here together and berthed together, they have visited Plymouth previously. HMS Diamond, as the newest destroyer in the class, is under its first basic operational training package.
Plymouth has also hosted another of the Type 45 frigates – HMS Dragon which conducted a boat transfer in the Sound.
As more Type 45s enter service with the Royal Navy, there will be six in total, they will become an increasingly common sight in Plymouth.
