It’s set to be another busy month for Plymouth’s word and performance platform WonderZoo! Beginning this Saturday 10th July, there will be a series of four pop-up fun days in Adelaide Park, Stonehouse and WonderZoo will be putting on a programme of outstanding performers from the area, kicking off with Josephine Furzey and friends, Caitlin Brawn and Strange Billy the Saint. There’ll be more kicking off with Plymouth Hope’s football group, as well as an exhibition of visual art at Adelaide Street gallery RAAY and free food from Jabulani. More events will take place on 24th July and 7th and 14th August, each one running from 2pm – 5pm and possible due to Vital Sparks/Mayflower 400 funding.
Our regular writing workshop, Cosmic Storytelling, takes place online on 9th July from 2pm – 4pm and professional writer and translator Gabi Marcellus-Temple will be discussing the use of descriptive language. There will also be opportunities for peer critique, with writers sharing their work with each other.
Our Radical Reading Group have all been reading their way through this month’s book in preparation for an online discussion from 7pm – 9pm on 21st July. All members of the group get free copies of the books/films we look at, in this case Mary Shelley’s gothic masterpiece ‘Frankenstein.’
Last but not least is our hybrid performance event, Sign of the Times, from 7.30pm on 29th July, which will take place at Plymouth’s Union Corner and also be streamed on Facebook Live from the WonderZoo page. This month’s stars include recently published poet Brian Herdman and amazing spoken word performer Kat Savage, plus a few more!
