Plymouth based Royal Marines are taking on the cream of the country’s Field Gun squads at this weekend’s Brickwoods Field Gun Championships.?
The squad, selected from serving members of 42 Commando, have been absorbed in intense training for a number of weeks as they aim to cause an upset at the annual championships held at HMS Collingwood, Portsmouth.
Head coach Robert “Kerry” Packer said: ‘I’m extremely proud to have been asked to coach this ground of men towards their first field gun competition. ?The mentality, and physical ability, of these Royal Marines make them great athletes and they are more than capable of doing the business this weekend”
“They’ve definitely got the ability to go far in the competition, it’ll come down to a few vital seconds on the day”, added Kerry.
