The Waterfront Writers was established in 1996, and is a collection of community based people who currently meet on Fridays during university term time from 1pm to 3pm at the Swarthmore Education Centre in Mutley Plain.
The organization has a formal constitution and it’s object is “to enable and empower as many people as possible to have access to, and take part in, and enjoy, writing, or expression through words, in any form, either for it’s own sake, or for performance or publication”. For its background click on the history link.
There is no annual subscription but members are asked to pay £2.50 at present each time they attend.
It has a managing committee elected annually at the AGM. Click on the management link to view current committee members.
To assist in it’s activities and to promote the voice of writers generally it seeks to cooperate with other writers groups, see the writers group link. It has had many activities and intends to continue in this way and to contribute to the community in general. Please click on the activities link to see what we have done, and what we currently have planned.
As long as one of it’s members is also a member of The Poetry Society it has become a Poetry Society Stanza and can benefit from the facilities offered by the Society and associating activities with other Stanzas. See Stanza link.
Finally, it offers members the opportunity to display their work on this site, see either our poetry link or our prose link, where members may display items of their work for a limited time.
